Spring Sewing Clubs

Spring is the perfect time for new sewing projects and new friends. Every day brings a new idea, project or dream. What better way to bring your ideas into perspective than sharing them with a local sewing group?
Sewing groups have been around since the olden days, and are sure to be around for many years to come. For many sewers, this is a place of creative release, were ideas flow as quickly as the spool of thread in a sewing machine on high power. Sewers gather together at pre-set times and locations to chat about the latest sewing techniques, projects that they can all do together, and how their sewing skills can help their local community.

These clubs come in a variety of forms. Some clubs are held for sewers with certain machines, while others discuss a certain topic of choice. While many have a fee or “dues” for being a part of their club, it usually isn’t over $20. Just remember, sewing clubs and sewing classes are two different things. Sewing classes tend to cost a bit more, and are meant for teaching only. Sewing clubs do have members that are willing to teach others what they know, but clubs have more depth to their agenda, like sewing projects that help the community as well as general discussion.
Whether you are new to the world of sewing, or a master of the cross-stitch, there’s almost always a sewing club that caters to your needs. And hey, if no sewing clubs are available in your area, what better time than spring to start one of your own?
